About PoolPilot

An independent one-person project from Germany.

What it's about

PoolPilot brings your pool controller to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android as a proper, native app. Originally intended only as a small complement to the native web interface, it has become a full-fledged app with all the advantages such as home and lock screen widgets and an almost complete range of functions. It supports the ProCon.IP and VIOLET pool controllers from PoolDigital as well as the BADU Blue and BADU Blue Pro from SPECK Pumpen Verkaufsgesellschaft GmbH — the latter because the VIOLET and BADU Blue share a fundamentally compatible API. The app automatically detects which controller it is and adjusts the display details and available functions accordingly.

Why PoolPilot exists

It didn't start with a pool of his own, but with a pool controller already in the family: out of a love for the tech and the lack of a ready-made integration, the open-source ProCon.IP integrations for Home Assistant and ioBroker came first. It only grew into a full native app now — because modern AI makes the effort manageable for a single person. PoolPilot is built and maintained in spare time by Yannic Labonte, a software developer from Germany — with a lot of commitment and care, but without a big company behind it.

Handling data

No accounts, no ads, no tracking. The app talks directly to your controller on your own network; credentials stay on your device. Details are in the Privacy Policy. For features that require the cloud, strict data minimisation applies: PoolPilot processes as little personal data as possible — only what remote access and push technically require, pseudonymously via anonymous IDs and entirely without accounts, real names or email addresses. No movement profiles, no location data.

Independence and trademarks

PoolPilot is and remains an independent project — there is no official affiliation, partnership or business relationship with PoolDigital GmbH & Co. KG. Which makes what grew alongside all the nicer: a friendly, direct exchange with the makers of the pool controllers at PoolDigital — first-hand feedback and joint tinkering so that the VIOLET will soon reach PoolPilot natively via push. Thank you! “ProCon.IP” and “VIOLET” are trademarks or product names of PoolDigital and are used solely to describe which hardware PoolPilot works with.

There is likewise no affiliation with SPECK Pumpen Verkaufsgesellschaft GmbH. That PoolPilot works with their BADU Blue and BADU Blue Pro simply follows from those devices’ VIOLET compatibility — there is no contact with SPECK. “BADU” is a trademark or product name of SPECK and is mentioned only to describe compatibility.
