Frequently asked questions
Which controllers are supported?
PoolPilot supports the ProCon.IP and VIOLET from PoolDigital GmbH & Co. KG as well as the BADU Blue and BADU Blue Pro from SPECK Pumpen Verkaufsgesellschaft GmbH — the VIOLET and BADU Blue share a fundamentally compatible API. On the BADU Blue, push notifications run through the PoolPilot Relay, and the Blue Pro adds the chlorine reading.
How do I connect the app to my controller?
The app and the controller must be on the same network. Add a connection profile and enter your controller’s address (host or IP) plus a username and password — PoolPilot detects whether it’s a ProCon.IP, a VIOLET or a BADU Blue automatically. A demo mode is built in so you can try the app first.
The app can’t reach the controller — what now?
Check that your phone and controller are on the same Wi-Fi/network and that the address/port are correct. On Android 17 and newer the app also needs the local-network permission — accept the prompt on first launch. Check your router’s Wi-Fi settings for possible restrictions (e.g., "device isolation").
Do I need an account or a cloud?
Not for local use: PoolPilot talks directly to your controller on the local network, with no account. Only remote access and push optionally use a cloud in Germany — see Relay and the Privacy Policy. A registration is not required.
What does PoolPilot cost, and what is Pro?
During the beta, PoolPilot is completely free — every feature is open. After that, a lot stays free (dashboard, measurements, app settings, profiles); switching, configuring the pool controller, widgets & watch and the PoolPilot Relay become PoolPilot Pro: 7-day free trial, then €2.99/month or €27.99/year.
How do I cancel the subscription?
Simply in the subscription settings of your app-store or Google Play account, where it automatically renews unless canceled in time.
Is my data collected?
If push notifications are used, the last 30 days of notifications are kept in the cloud (viewable in the app via the notification icon). But since no names or email addresses are collected, and everything is assigned via anonymous IDs, privacy is protected. There’s no tracking and no advertising. The controller’s access credentials remain on the end users’ devices, where they belong. More details in the Privacy Policy.
What is the PoolPilot Relay?
A small agent that runs at your home (e.g. on a Raspberry Pi) and gives the ProCon.IP remote access and push — what the VIOLET already does on its own. Details and step-by-step guides: Relay page.
Does it work when I’m away from home?
Yes. The VIOLET — and VIOLET-compatible controllers like the BADU Blue — have remote access built in; for the ProCon.IP (and for push on the BADU Blue) there’s the PoolPilot Relay, which adds remote access and push — a small agent at your home (e.g. on a Raspberry Pi). Setup and guides on the Relay page.
